How it works
Once a day, we check your site and mail servers against widely used blocklists:
- IP blocklists (Barracuda, SpamCop) for your server's address and your mail servers' addresses. A listing sends your email to spam or gets it rejected.
- Domain blocklists (SURBL) for your domain. A listing gets email that mentions your domain filtered.
- Filtering DNS resolvers (AdGuard DNS, AdGuard Family, CleanBrowsing Security, Cloudflare Family, OpenDNS, OpenDNS Family, Quad9). A listing makes your site unreachable for everyone who uses that resolver, including many companies, schools and families.
Settings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Skip lists | — | Lists to skip, separated by commas, e.g. Quad9, OpenDNS Family. Useful when a family filter blocks your site's category on purpose. |
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| OK | Not listed on any blocklist. |
| Warning | None of the blocklists could be queried. |
| Failed | Listed on at least one blocklist. |
By default you are notified of failures only.
Fixing common problems
- Find the cause first. A listing usually means the server sent spam or hosted malware, often because a form, a mailbox or the site was compromised. If you delist without fixing it, you will be listed again.
- Request removal from each list. Each list has a lookup and removal page: Barracuda, SpamCop, SURBL, and the support pages of the DNS filters.
- Shared hosting: if a neighbour on the same IP caused the listing, ask your host for a different IP.
