This check is off by default. Enable it under Active checks on the monitor.
How it works
Every hour, we extract the visible words of your page (up to 5,000) and compare them with the previous run. The difference is a percentage: 0% means the same words, 100% means a completely different page. When it is over your threshold, we warn you.
This catches defacements, pages accidentally replaced by an error, maintenance or parking page, and deploys that wiped out content. The comparison always uses the previous run, so a planned change only warns once.
Settings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Threshold percent | 30 |
Warn when the page text changed by more than this. |
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| OK | The page text changed less than the threshold. |
| Warning | The page text changed by more than the threshold. |
By default you are notified of warnings and failures.
Tips
- Pages that change often (news, feeds, dashboards) warn too often. Raise the threshold, or monitor a more stable page.
- An unexpected change: open the page and compare it with what it should show. If it was defaced, take it offline, restore it from a backup, and find out how the attacker got in.
